I don't recall the exact event but it was at a ceremony at a park and I am guessing it was from a Stilliguamish tribal elder.lisazoo14https://www.blogger.com/profile/17694860372281861980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3645981352737217483.post-81387440162751543162019-09-19T21:53:13.181-07:002019-09-19T21:53:13.181-07:00I first heard it from Steve Archibald, founder of ...I first heard it from Steve Archibald, founder of the Journey's School, from Utah while he worked at Teton Science School, 1995.CChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11701653090182111055noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3645981352737217483.post-62733679152697073652019-01-11T14:06:32.499-08:002019-01-11T14:06:32.499-08:00Kevin,

I found two major versions of the story — the other has the mice hiding from an owl — and was never even able to tie the versions to individual groups.

KevinLivingWildernesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11802804287586180346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3645981352737217483.post-27636894036268184452018-05-03T12:55:04.535-07:002018-05-03T12:55:04.535-07:00Hi there,

The one we tell is adapted by Heidi Bohan, but is essentially the same. I've also seen various versions of this story around the internet. Some attributed it as indigenous or First Nations, and some just call it a local legend. Ms. Bohan hasn't seen it attributed to any specific indigenous group, and I have yet to find a source either. Can I ask the source of your Mice and Douglas-fir story? Would be very interested to know whether it is indeed First Nations, and would like to give it proper credit if so, or potentially think about the consequences of sharing it in a settler/colonial context.
Thanks. I appreciate your input. Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16734929398620377708noreply@blogger.com
